What is the ASRS?
The ASRS (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale) is an 18-question screening measure developed with the World Health Organization. It asks how often you experience difficulties with attention, organisation, restlessness and impulsivity in everyday situations, and is one of the most widely used first-step screens for ADHD in adults.
Does this test diagnose ADHD?
No. The ASRS is a screening tool and cannot diagnose ADHD. A higher score means your experiences are consistent with ADHD and a full assessment by a qualified clinician would be worthwhile. Formal diagnosis involves a detailed clinical interview and history, which no questionnaire can replace.
Is this test suitable for children?
No. The ASRS was designed and validated for adults, and Offload's version is for people aged 18 and over. If you are concerned about a child, speak to their GP or school, who can refer for an age-appropriate assessment.
